Ghana’s Black Stars were held to a goalless draw by Namibia in a friendly match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The friendly on Monday, January 8 formed part of preparations for both teams as they get ready for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Despite the Black Stars hitting the post, they found it difficult to breach the steeled defence of the Namibians, who have pitched camp in Ghana for the tournament.

Black Stars coach Chris Hughton started Captain Andre Dede Ayew from the bench,

handing Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer a debut game.

Alexander Djiku also returned to the team after months of injury and was paired in central defence with Daniel Amartey.

The team was without West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus, who is unavailable due to injury.

Namibia coach Collin Benjamin named a strong line-up for the game after being held to a draw by Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC in a training game last week.

With the match ending 0-0, the two sides will map out strategies for their campaigns in La Côte d’Ivoire.

The South Africans will play in Group E, beginning their onslaught on Tuesday, January 16 against Tunisia before later taking on South Africa and Mali.

Ghana, on the other hand, will start their campaign on Sunday, January 14 against Cape Verde. They will later meet Egypt and Mozambique in Group B.
