A football administrator, Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, has bemoaned the current strength of the senior national men’s soccer team, the Black Stars, saying they are no longer a force to reckon with.

He said gone are the days placing 4th at continental tournaments is considered a failure for the team.

“When you look at Ghana’s history and pedigree in football, we cannot say we are where we want to be,” he noted on Onua TV‘s Agoro Fie in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, December 20.

“In the past, when Ghana is about to play in an African Cup, it is the expectation of all that even if we do not win, we come second or third; even fourth is counted as failure.

“But over the past years till now, qualification [to major tournaments] is even a problem and then after qualification, when we get to the tournament, if we are lucky and make it out of the group stage, then we are happy.

“That tells you we have dipped in performance,” he told host Solomon Amankwaah.
