Former Black Stars General Captain Asamoah Gyan has spewed his frustrations during his time as leader of the senior national men’s soccer team.
He said he was a loner as a captain and only delivered on the field of play.
Gyan spilled this on Instagram Live on Thursday, January 2.
It’s unclear what triggered the former Udinese forward’s rants.
Touching on his tenure as captain of the Black Stars, he mentioned how junior players freshly called up into the team suddenly sideline themselves from him after a few days of drooling over him in camp.
He said that was as a result of “brainwashing” by the some people he failed to mention.
“For me, my time as a captain in the national team, I was alone. I only delivered on the field,” he said.
“Because of brainwashing, people didn’t respect me a captain because there were people brainwashing these kids for them to be respected. Now when I left, you see.”
Gyan also talked about his short political cameo for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisting that his reputation was used as a “political tactic” for votes.
