The Black Stars will assemble in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday, December 31 for the start of preparations for 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cote d’Iviore.

According to a release by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Christmas Day, the team will spend approximately 10 days in South Africa before heading to the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Black Stars are scheduled to play one friendly match against Botswana in Johannesburg on Monday, January 8 as hinted by Onua Sports a few days ago.

According to the release, the training sessions of the team will not be open to the public nor the media as per a directive from the Technical Team.

Ghana are in Group B alongside record winners Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

Ghana will open her campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14 before later taking on Egypt – on Thursday, January 18, 2024 – and  Mozambique – on Monday, January 22, 2024.

The tournament, however, starts on Saturday, January 13 and ends on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
