The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi and Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, has called for investigations into alleged abuses by security personnel enforcing curfew in Bole.
The MP has emphasised that the alleged abuses must be promptly investigated to ensure the safety and rights of the constituents are respected.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Interior, the MP urged the Ministry to launch a full-scale investigation into complaints of brutalities meted out to residents during curfew hours.
He also requested that a stern directive be issued to security officers deployed in the area to carry out their duties professionally and without excesses.
“As you will agree, these allegations are serious if found to be true. On behalf of the chiefs and people, I respectfully request that you institute a full investigation into the matters raised in the letter by the youth.
“I further appeal to you to urge the security forces to immediately desist from excessive use of force, if any, and to carry out their duties with the professionalism expected of them,” the stated said.
The call by the MP follows a petition by a youth group in Bole over alleged abuses by security personnel deployed to the area following a communal conflict in the Sawla district.

On Thursday September 4, 2025, a youth group in Bole known as Arise Bole Youth, petitioned the Interior Minister over what they described as abuse of human rights and security brutalities in Bole and it environs.
The youth, while describing the communal conflict as unfortunate, lamented over how security officers assigned to Bole have engaged in acts of intimidation, harassment, and outright brutality against residents.
“Security officers have been unlawfully dragging residents, including women, children, and the elderly, out of their homes at night under the pretext of enforcing curfew.
“Several residents have been subjected to severe beatings, resulting in serious injuries, with some currently hospitalized,” the youth said in their statement.
The youth in their petition demand the Interior Minister, the Inspector-General of Police, and the National Security Council, to immediately investigate the conduct of the security personnel in Bole and hold all perpetrators accountable under the law.
“The unlawful brutalization of residents must cease forthwith, and clear directives should be issued to security personnel to act strictly within the limits of the law and in conformity with professional standards.”
