On Friday, January 30, 2026, the Bono Regional Coordinating Council hosted the official signing of performance contracts involving Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), Municipal and District Coordinating Directors, and Human Resource Managers.

Delivering his speech, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, underscored the importance of collaboration between the national and regional levels, as the signing marked a significant step towards enhancing decentralization and local governance.

‎The Bono Regional Minister highlighted that the performance contracts are strategic tools designed to foster professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and prudent financial management within local assemblies, emphasizing a commitment to uphold governance standards and achieve measurable results.

‎He called for discipline and effective collaboration among local executives and departmental heads, aligning with the national development vision of President John Mahama to promote accountability in governance.

‎Christopher Dapaah, a representative of the Local Government Service Council, noted the significance of public participation and accountability, addressing challenges faced by assemblies, including staffing issues and resource management. To combat favoritism in staff postings, a new recruitment portal is in development.

‎Mr. Dapaah asserted that the Council has announced plans to visit various districts, to engage with local stakeholders and address district development issues. Council members, totaling 15, will be dispersed across the country, making individual visits at different times. Prior to these visits, the Regional Minister will provide notifications to ensure proper coordination he said.

‎According to him the objective of these interactions is to gather insights on local concerns and collaboratively identify solutions for development gaps, fostering a cooperative effort between the Council and district representatives.

Dean of the Bono MDCEs and Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani, Vincent Antwi Agyei reaffirmed a commitment to supporting the President’s agenda.

He pledged to adhere to the rules and procedures necessary for effective administration, ensuring that their efforts contribute to the development and progress of the Bono region.
