The Government, through the Ministry of Education, has announced plans to construct emergency girls’ dormitories for the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) and a 12-unit classroom block for Labone Senior High School.
The intervention comes in response to recent fire outbreaks at the two institutions, which displaced students in the Northern Region and Greater Accra and disrupted academic activities.
According to the Ministry of Education, the move underscores Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of students and the continuity of teaching and learning.

“The Government is deeply concerned about the impact of these unfortunate incidents on students and school communities,” the Ministry stated. “These emergency infrastructure projects are intended to restore safe, secure, and conducive learning environments as quickly as possible.”

The Ministry further assured students, parents, staff, and the general public that measures are being put in place to fast-track the reconstruction works while strengthening safety standards to prevent future occurrences.

“We are working closely with relevant agencies to ensure that the new facilities meet improved safety requirements and are completed within the shortest possible time,” the statement issued by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Honourable Minister, added.
Government reaffirmed its broader commitment to safeguarding the welfare of learners and strengthening educational infrastructure nationwide, particularly in times of emergency.
