A 40 year-old woman has been severely butchered and nearly beheaded by unknown assailants at Gomoa Akoti Junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region Wednesday dawn.

The victim whose name withheld is a resident at Gomoa Ojobi, was walking along the highway going to work, upon reaching a section of the road, she was attacked by unknown criminals who tried to slaughter her.

After swerving the machete, it landed in her left hand and nearly divided the palm into two.

Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare speaking in an interview with the victim narrated that, on her way to work, a salon car drove closer to her and hit her with the car gate. She fell down where they pulled a well sharpened knife and tried to butcher her.

She said they were about four men.

I walked from Ojobi to Akoti this dawn when I saw a private car. It is ash in colour. I thought it was a Trotro that was alighting someone. They hit me down and came with a knife. I held his hand with my left hand. The second person came and I held him with the right. The third person came and I hit his testicles with my leg. When the driver tried coming out, I ruhed into a gutter on the road and they fled. I gave them my phone they didn’t take. They could have cut my hand but it was obvious it was my head they wanted,” she narrated.

Meanwhile, some residents in the area have expressed worry over the rampant robbery and assault in the area.

They have appealed to the security services and the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare to as a matter of urgency come to their aid to curb the situation since they have Regional Police Command.
