The Suhum District Court has remanded Frank Kwame Arhin, a carpenter, into police custody for allegedly murdering a 61-year-old security guard at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education.

The accused, who appeared in court unrepresented, is alleged to have committed the offence of murder contrary to Section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

The Eastern South Region Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Kamal Salifu Gumah told the court, presided over by His Worship Cynthia Ohene, that the police needed more time to conduct further investigations into the case.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on the evening of November 15, 2025 when the deceased’s teenage son and a friend visited Frank Arhin’s house in Newtown to call his daughter.

The accused allegedly took offense to the visit and assaulted the teenager.

The deceased subsequently visited Frank Kwame Arhin’s house to address the issue, but the meeting ended in a scuffle.

The accused, Frank Kwame Arhin allegedly attacked the deceased with a cutlass, slashing his throat, and fled the scene to a nearby bush at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, where he was arrested on November 16,2025.

The Kibi Police Command, responding to a distress call, found the deceased in a pool of blood with a deep wound on his throat.

He was pronounced dead, and his body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

The case has been adjourned to December 3, 2025, for further proceedings.
