The unfortunate incident occurred Wednesday, January 25, 2023, around 2:30pm when the three suspects aged between 14 and 45 extended their hunting expedition to the marketplace.

Eyewitnesses say the suspects were hunting rats under one of the stores and the fire occurred in the process.

They, therefore, appealed to the government and the Assin South District Assembly to set up a fire station in the district as they usually rely on the stations at Mankesim, Assin Fosu, and Abura Dunkwa whenever there is a fire incident.

Meanwhile, A.D.O 2 Robbert Darkoh Ntoro said investigations have been launched into the matter to unravel the cause of the fire.

He, however, appealed to the residents to be always careful when dealing with fire.

The Police are on the heels of the three suspects as they absconded after the incident. The case is under investigation at the Nyankumase Ahenkro Police Command.
