Host of Onua TV/FM’s morning show Blessed Godsbrain Smart has charged President Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to call those politicising Ahmed Suale’s death to order.

He says it was time the President exhibited some authority over the ongoing exchanges between some factions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with the murder of the late journalist as the fulcrum of their aspersions.

His comments come on the back of threats stemming from the confrontations between Ashanti regional Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi and Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong who is contesting the flag bearer role of the party.

During the Fabewoso segment of the show Thursday, October 5, 2023, exasperated Captain Smart said “Ahmed Suale had a child, even if he wasn’t married, he had a girlfriend, he had a mother, he had a father, he had friends and family.

“The young journalist is gone, why do you always want to remind those who were close to him to revive their grief? Is there no leader in the NPP now to call these people to order? Nana Addo, call your people to order. If I should hear anyone throwing jabs about Ahmed’s death, I will personally deal with that person,” he said.

Background

Team Kennedy Agyapong responded to threats issued by the Ashanti regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi on Wednesday, October 4, asking him to demand the murderers of the late Ahmed Suale from the Vice President.

The comment came on the back of a threat issued by Chairman Wontumi, asking Kennedy Agyapong not to threaten him again or he will get him arrested. According to Wontumi, the investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale, died few weeks after Ken Agyapong had put his image on national TV and threatened him following the release of an investigative documentary dubbed Number 12, produced by the TigerEyePi firm.

Speaking to the media, Chairman Wontumi said he wouldn’t sit aloof to be threatened by Ken Agyapong since the last person he threatened on TV was murdered.

“Let comments like, “I have regretted being in the NPP, everyone is a fool, I’ll give you a showdown” and how you speak, among others cease else if you threaten me again, I will get you arrested. This is an advice I am giving you because you did same and now the likes of Ahmed Suale are all gone,” he said in Twi at a press conference Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

In a press briefing, spokesperson for Ken Agyapong, William Kusi, said since the Vice President is the Chairman of the Police Council, the report on Mr. Suale’s death should be on his table and any information needed by Mr. Boasiako could be derived from Dr. Bawumia.

“He claims Ahmed Suale died so if Ken says something he will arrest him. Who is supposed to find the murderers of Ahmed Suale? The police, who is Chair of the Police Council? –the Vice President –and after an investigation has been done, who will be presented with the findings?

“…So if he wants the murderers of Ahmed Suale, he should go to the Vice President and ask. He shouldn’t say because our candidate spoke about Ahmed Suale he should be questioned about his murderers. This should be the last time he should be making such a comment,” he indicated.
