Cedi Holds Steady at GH¢11.38/$1 as Asiama Rules Out Excessive Volatility
The Cedi weakened marginally against the US dollar on Friday, 30 October 2026, according to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) rate.
The local currency bought at GH¢11.6457 per dollar and sold at GH¢11.6573.
On Thursday, 29 October, the Cedi bought at GH¢11.6200 to the dollar and sold at GH¢11.6316.
Despite the brief movement, BoG Governor Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama said the broader economic trajectory remains strong.
Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) 2025 Annual Investment Report, Dr Asiama highlighted the Cedi’s overall recovery against major foreign currencies. He said this was underpinned by robust external reserves and momentum across key sectors.
“These developments have contributed to creating a more stable and predictable environment for businesses and investors,” Dr Asiama said.
He said national growth has become increasingly broad-based, driven by gains in agriculture and services alongside a steady rebound in industry.
The central bank expects these macroeconomic fundamentals and strengthening foreign reserves to continue anchoring the local currency over the coming quarters.
