Defending champions Dreams FC were among the eight qualifiers from the Round of 16 of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup over the weekend.

The eight qualifiers will next play in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Dreams FC beat Koforidua Semper Fi 4-1 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu to make it to the next round.

They are one of six Ghana Premier League clubs who have made it to the quarters.

Before the weekend’s round of matches, Karela United beat Asante Kotoko 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Monday, February 12 to become the first GPL side to make it to the next round.

They were followed by Nsoatreman FC, who eliminated Berekum Chelsea 5-3 on penalties after a goalless draw at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

On Saturday, Legon Cities brought the impressive run of Nania FC, who eliminated Hearts of Oak, to an end, beating the Division One side 2-1.

On the same day, Bofoakwa Tano FC overpowered Wa Power FC 1-0 while Bechem United saw off Akwaboso Young Madrid 5-3 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 in full regulation time.

On Sunday, February 18, Soccer Intellectuals beat Hohoe United 2-0 to join the elite clubs.

Their feat was replicated by Skyy FC, who beat former Ghana Premier League side Elmina Sharks 4-3 on penalties after a one-all scoreline in full regulation time.
