Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said that Alvaro Morata “can be compared” to Erling Haaland based on current form.
In an interview with El Larguero (13/11/2023), the Argentine tactician discussed the £58 million (Sky Sports) man, who has 12 goals for the Spanish giants in all competitions this season.

However, the Manchester City striker, branded as “a defender’s worst nightmare” by Stephen Warnock has bagged 17 goals in the Premier League and Champions League this campaign.
Last season, the 23-year-old registered 52 goals in 53 games in total for City, leading his side to winning a historic treble.
Even so, Diego Simeone has briefly explained why Alvaro Morata can be mentioned in the same breath as Erling Haaland currently.
“Alvaro Morata is on par with Erling Haaland. For goals, his numbers and he can be compared with him, of course”, Simeone told El Larguero.
The only striker in the world on the same level as Erling Haaland may be Harry Kane
Diego Simeone is fair in crediting Alvaro Morata, who has been in promising touch this season but Erling Haaland is and has been on another level to him for years now.
The Norwegian international is one of, if not the best striker in world football, while one can argue that the Spanish goalscorer has been quite hit-and-miss since leaving Juventus in 2016.
But if there is a No.9 in Europe that can be mentioned in the same breath as Erling Haaland, it is Harry Kane, who has been a revelation for Bayern Munich so far.
The Englishman is and has been operating at an elite level for several years as well.
But aside from Kane, it would be blasphemous to claim that any striker is on the same level as Haaland.
