The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), has commiserated with the families of the eight victims who tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a statement, the Institute has prayed for strength and divine comfort for the bereaved families, the government, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the President.
The crash claimed the lives of eight prominent individuals, including two cabinet ministers, who were on a national assignment to Obuasi in the Ashanti region to address pressing issues related to illegal mining and environmental degradation.
Among those who perished were two cabinet ministers, namely Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister of Defence, and Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology.
The others are former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Ibrahim, and Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Samuel Aboagye.
The rest are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
In a press release signed and issued by its National President, Michael Abbiw, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana described the deceased individuals as “heroic servants of the nation”, whose cause was a “mission” deemed “critical” by the state.
“Even in this moment of national mourning, we must celebrate their virtues and devotion to the ideals of integrity, service, and the progress of Ghana,” the statement contained in some parts.
The CIMG also lauded the efforts of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and other security agencies for their roles in transporting the remains of the victims from the accident scene, amidst the challenging circumstances.
“Their commitment to duty, even in the face of overwhelming emotion, is deeply appreciated.”
While calling on the media and the general public to “exercise ethical judgment, sensitivity, and circumspection in their coverage,” the Institute also underscored the need to continue the cause the deceased championed, leading to their unfortunate demise.
“As we grieve, we also reflect on the mission they were undertaking, advancing responsible mining and environmental stewardship.”
The “CIMG reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote safety, transparency, and sustainability in public policy and national development” in honour of the fallen heroes.
