The Member of Parliament for Bekwai and the 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu has implored graduates to apply the knowledge they’ve acquired to create wealth and not always go round searching for white-collar job.

Speaking at the launch of the 29th GRASAG week celebration at KNUST, the legislator tasked graduates to initiate the process of generating wealth before others support them.

“Every graduate is going round with a certificate searching for job whereas the training was to enable them create the job. I think it is time we bridge the linkages between the knowledge we’ve acquired and the wealth in our land.

“Parliament will continue to provide the facilitation but first thing is that, graduate must apply the knowledge they have.”

The Bekwai MP noted, there are several policies in the budget to encourage young people start a business but they have to take the step to grab such opportunities.

“YouStart is in the budget. I encourage young people to read the budget and get to know how to receive support to start something on their own. Every budget has some programmes to support young people with ideas. Unless you take the step, nothing will happen”.

The week-long celebration is themed “The Role of Postgraduate in Africa’s Economic Recovery”.
