The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has been sued by forty (40) Chief Inspectors over delay in their promotion.

They have described the development as an unjustifiable refusal by the IGP to grant them their promotion.

A writ filed by the group at the Kumasi High Court says they have been excluded from series of promotions prompted by the Service to grant special amnesty to police officers who had obtained degrees before 2020 after they were enrolled into the service.

After serving between 25 to 30 years, the plaintiffs say the Police administration has promoted their junior colleagues at their expense under the same amnesty but has refused to grant them entry to the Police Academy to facilitate their promotions to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

They are praying to the court to direct the IGP to grant them direct access to the Police Academy an further restore the salary they missed due to the failure to promote them.

Meanwhile, the Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is currently before a committee on recession which is probing a leaked tape purported to be plotting his removal from office.

After appearing before the ad-hoc committee with his accusers, the committee will resume sitting on October 2 2023.
