Ex Ghana international, Prince Charles Kwaku Barnieh Asampong Taylor, says Black Stars captain, Andre Rami Morgan Ayew (Dede), does not deserve a place in the current Black Stars squad.

Charles Taylor says if meritocracy was the prerequisite for a spot in the senior national team, Dede Ayew should not be part of the team.

The former Black Stars winger was commenting on a statement from the Black Stars captain saying only some senior players have automatic slot in the team whereas any other person has to justify his inclusion.

At a prematch press conference for Ghana’s next friendly –with Nicaragua –ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, captain Andre Ayew said but for the said senior players which he didn’t mention, no other player has a permanent position in the squad.

But responding to the comment on Onua Sports Tuesday, September 27, 2022, Charles Taylor said he has no idea where the senior player categorisation is stemming from. However, if there was anything to go by, Dede himself should not have been part of the team.

“If he says no player has an automatic spot, then he himself shouldn’t be in the team if we are critically looking at performance for now,” he said.

Meanwhile, Charles Taylor thinks Dede’s younger brother, Jordan Ayew, deserves a spot in the team.
