Captain Smart has sent a strong warning to the NPP government that His Majesty the Asantehene is neither a Unit Committee Member nor a polling station agent.
His outburst comes on the back of projects the government has failed to accomplish in the Ashanti region whereas having the audacity to direct the Otumfuo on what to say at a public gathering.
Ashanti Regional minister, Simon Osei Mensah and Lands and Natural Resource minister, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor had told the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to stick to a piece given to him to read at a public gathering without passing further comments about the galamsey menace in the region.
But Otumfuo at the gathering revealed what the two ministers told him, adding that 30% of the gathering with him then knew those who were engaged in illegal mining.
Meanwhile, Captain Smart noted the KNUST Teaching Hospital the Asantehene asked the president to complete for him has been abandoned since 2017.
The Asantehene had personally indicated at KNUST to president Akufo-Addo in 2017 that:
“His Excellency the president, Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as you may know, even though I get briefings about all the happenings in the university, I also paid periodic working visit to the campus to assist in things for myself.
“I must say I have been very much impressed with the strategic developments on this campus.
“This notwithstanding, the KNUST Teaching Hospital project which in completion will astray the education and training of medical and allied health professionals health self delivery in the country has been on the drawing board from 2008 –twelve years –which seemed to be abandoned due to lack of funds.
“I have written to you Your Excellency through the minister of Finance and I do hope that it is a priority on your Excellency’s health care agenda and especially though I am the Chancellor and you are the President, I want this hospital to be built for me,” the Asantehene noted.
President Akufo-Addo in his response assured Otumfuo that he will complete the hospital for him. But after almost six years, the project is still in ruins.
But livid Captain Smart noted:
“The KNUST teaching hospital that Otumfuo said Nana Addo should complete for him since Kufuor’s time should have been completed but after 4 years, nothing has been done.
“After promising the president of doing the project for him, you didn’t. But you people had the guts to tell Otumfuo what to say and what not to say. Do you think Otumfuo is a unit committee member or polling agent for you to tell him what to say?
