A man believed to be in his late thirties by name John Ato has allegedly butchered his wife who is also in her thirties to death at Dunkwa Mfuom in the Dunkwa Offin district of the Central region.

Reports indicate the couple were living harmoniously until the wife threatened a divorce following the demise of their baby.

Her decision, according to residents, sparked tension in the relationship which has since not experienced sanity.

The deceased had two children prior to getting married to the suspect. The neighbours have been explaining that when the children learnt of the altercations between the duo, they reported the incident to those in the vicinity.

However, upon reaching the scene, they realised the door was locked where they forced it open to find the woman in a pool of blood.

The suspect, after allegedly committing the heinous crime attempted suicide by hanging but was rescued by the neighbours who handed him over to the police.

He is currently at the Dunkwa Offin Government Hospital receiving treatment whilst the remains of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
