A carpenter, Alex Tenge has allegedly killed his 90-year-old grandfather and his mother who is 40 years at Okorase in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern region.

Alex is said to have murdered his grandfather, Sodzado Tenge, before taking his mother, Rita Agbabli Tenge’s life in their compound house.

It is reported that he consumed a bissap juice (sobolo) mixed with ‘wee’ before before committing the crime around 11:30pm December 1, 2022.

According to reports, he informed the police about the incident.

The widower, who is father to the victim and husband of the deceased, Francis Tenge, said the family is devastated by the incident.

“I left my wife and father home Thursday morning to my hometown. I arrived at 9:30 pm. Then I had a call from my wife that Alex (suspect) had gone to a nearby house and attempted to entangle the neck of a girl in the house so the father was going to report at the police station,” Francis Tenge, the father narrated.

He narrated further, “I tried calling back for an update on the police case but my wife didn’t respond to the phone calls. I was later told that my son Alex has killed my wife and father. It was very difficult for me, so I set off the next day to come home.”

“Now I need psychological help, I need your prayers and support. My son has never misbehaved like that. I don’t know what came to him. I am told he informed police that someone gave him sobolo,” he cried.

Kwasi Gboha, an Elder in the family said they are collaborating with the police for further investigation after which the body will be released to them for burial.

Two Pastors of the Church – Pastor Frank Aki and Pastor Ebenezer Awuah on Saturday morning visited the bereaved family to commiserate and motivate them with scriptures.

Rita Tenge left behind four children made –two boys and two girls –the older child 14 years of age with the last born 9 months old.

Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody assisting investigation whilst the bodies have been deposited at the morgue of the Eastern Regional Hospital.
