Over 250 pupils of the Akwadum Islamic Basic School may have to stay home for days due to how devastated their school building and teaching and learning materials have become.

The pupils from basic one to JHS two deserted school Monday, October 3, 2022.

Their community was worse affected by the floods in the Eastern Region.

Headmaster and teachers were greeted with empty classrooms with damaged teaching and learning materials.

Headmaster of the school Albert Batsa, says serious academic work can only begin next week Monday and called for assistance.

“We need urgent assistance immediately before the pupils can return to school.The school is in crises. We need support to renovate it. The JHS block is inhabitable now. The building has developed cracks now. We have to sit under tress to learn. Most of the students have lost their books,” he pleaded.
