The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and NDC parliamentary candidate Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, is confident that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is the only party that can bring meaningful development to the Nzema enclave.

He expressed this conviction during the handing over ceremony of the Santaso CHPS compound health center in the district.

As part of his commitment to improving healthcare in the area, Buah promised to expand the Ananekrom Health Center into a polyclinic. This move aims to provide better healthcare services to the community.

In a significant step towards improving healthcare in his constituency, Buah has constructed and handed over a fully furnished health facility at the cost of 700,000 cedis to Santaso, a community with over 2,000 residents, mostly cocoa farmers. Previously, they had to travel 8 kilometers to access primary healthcare in a nearby community.

This new health facility aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3, which aims to promote well-being and healthy lives for all people at all ages. The facility will undoubtedly bridge the healthcare gap in Santaso and its surrounding communities.

At the handover ceremony, Buah emphasized that the location of the health facility was strategic, considering the surrounding communities. It will reduce the burden of traveling long distances to access hospital facilities.

“We strategically selected this location based on advice from the health directorate. The nearest clinics, Asamase and Edzizowazo, are quite far, making this clinic a vital resource for the scattered communities in the area. This clinic will significantly impact the lives of residents, particularly women, and is a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to transform this area.

Our plans encompass various interventions, including road construction, electrification, and healthcare. I’m proud to say that we’ve already established five health centers in this area, revolutionizing the lives of local farmers. With the support of the community and health officials, we’re committed to driving progress and improving lives.”

The Midwife in charge of the Santaso CHPS compound Dorcas Asmah, expressed her gratitude for the new facility in a sideline interview. She noted that the upgraded infrastructure will significantly enhance their work, particularly compared to the previous one-room facility they had been using.

“This facility is a significant upgrade for us. Previously, we were operating out of only three buildings, which limited our capacity to provide adequate services. We had to combine multiple functions in a single room, compromising patient privacy.”

“In contrast, this new facility offers ample space and resources. We have separate rooms for maternity care, consulting, and restrooms, ensuring that patients receive the privacy and care they deserve.”

“Additionally, we no longer face water and electricity challenges, thanks to the installation of a generator. This reliable power source enables us to continue providing essential services even during outages.”

To enhance their community outreach programs, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah presented 10 motorbikes to the Ellembelle District Health Directorate. Additionally, he provided 65,000 cedis to repair an old ambulance, which will serve the northern part of the district.

Dr. Augustine Amoako, the Ellembelle District Health Director said, “Aiyanse North, located in the Ellembelle District, is a hard-to-reach area that has faced significant challenges in accessing comprehensive healthcare services. Specifically, the community lacks obstetric healthcare, forcing pregnant women to travel to the district hospital for blood transfusions or surgery. The only means of transportation are motorbikes, tricycles, or the national ambulance service, which often struggles to navigate the poor road conditions.”

“To address this issue, a new CHPS compound has been commissioned, aligning with the World Health Organization’s goal of universal health coverage. This facility aims to provide primary healthcare services directly to the community, reducing the need for lengthy travels to access medical care. With this new facility, minor illnesses can now be treated within the community, marking a significant improvement in healthcare accessibility for Aiyanse North residents.”

Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, demonstrated his commitment to supporting the youth in his constituency through various initiatives.

Notably, he provided financial assistance to Junior High School students transitioning to Senior High School, easing their educational journey.

Additionally, his “Skill Up” empowerment program equipped 1,500 youths with startup kits, empowering them to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations and become self-sufficient.
