English Premier League club Manchester United have announced that Dutchman Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manager.

The decision comes barely 24 hours after the Red Devils’ 2-1 loss to struggling West Ham United.

The result sees the former champions fall to 14th on the 20-team table with just 11 points from a possible 27. It was the fourth loss of the side in the 2024/25 season.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future,” the club said in its statement on Monday, October 28.

In ten Hag’s place has been appointed another Dutchman and former striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was assistant until Monday.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”

Ten Hag joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022.

He led the team to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
