The Ghana Armed Forces has announced that it has completed the selection of 2000 recruits being the first in the series of four batches.
In a statement issued on March 17 by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain Veronica Arhin, the selected personnel are expected to on Wednesday, March 18 report at their various selection centres across the 16 regions of the country for their appointment letters and prospectus.
GAF said all potential applicants who had curable medical issues at the medical stage are encouraged to seek medical attention as they would be invited again for a review at a later date at no cost.
Meanwhile, selected potential recruits for the first batch include 18 personnel who got injured during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year. Five others were sponsored by the families of the deceased during the El-Wak stampede.
Ghana Armed Forces expressed its gratitude to all the 16 Regional Administrations for their immense support that enabled this year’s exercise to be organised at the regional level in line with government’s directive of sending recruitment to the doorstep of potential applicants.
Ghana Armed Forces assured all remaining applicants to remain calm as it continues the selection for the remaining batches.
GAF indicated that it has a pool of young applicants who scored high marks during the aptitude test and will therefore make selection from the pool for subsequent recruitment exercises beyond this year.
GAF noted that the directive on facilitating recruitment for persons from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who assisted the military during last year’s helicopter crash rescue operation is under consideration for the second batch of training.
