Former Asante Kotoko defender Godfred Yeboah has died at the age of 41.

The left-back is said to have died in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.

According to Ghanasoccernet.com, Yeboah had been battling illness for almost a month.

Yeboah played for Asante Kotoko for nine seasons and left the club in 2008 to Wa All Stars (Now Legon Cities FC) after winning the 2007/08 Ghana Premier League trophy with Kotoko.

Social media users have been stunned by the news of Yeboah’s demise.

Meanwhile, Yeboah’s death comes less than 24 hours after stanch Hearts of Oak Paa Kofi Sumsum was confirmed dead on Monday afternoon.
