One of the comments Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has made about the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in his recent epistles is that the party has become a shadow of itself and not what it has been known to be.

The former Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation minister thinks the NPP he has known and followed as birthed from the UP tradition has deviated from its ideals.

But the assertion, according to General Secretary of the party is a figment of the former Head of the Korle-Bu Cardiothoracic Centre’s own imagination.

According to him, those who follow the party closely can testify that the NPP is still on course in terms of its vision as a political party, expressing his disagreement with the assertion.

When asked of his take on the Professor saying the NPP has shun its tenets and become a shadow of itself, he said “I think he is entitled to his opinion. That is what he sees but for us in the party, who follow the dictates of the constitution of our party, we remain resolute and we are in the process of electing our flag bearer” adding that once the party elects its presidential candidate, they will commence campaign and tell the good story of the NPP from 2017.

He further explained to Keminni Amanor, host of Hot Issues on TV3 Sunday, October 29, 2023, that “as a political party, the first step that we always look up to, is to make sure that one, we have a country to run as a government and two, at the end of the day we need to embark on a journey or activities that will satisfy the expectation of the Ghanaian populace so that at the end of the day when you are going to an election, the people will ask you, you came into government to do A, B or C, the question is, has the government in its actions or inactions shown that it is committed towards fighting galamsey or not?”

Commenting on those supposedly attacking the Professor for certain pronouncements he made about the NPP, Mr. Kodua said “when certain statements are made against the party, how you react to it may be different. There are people who will not take it lightly” explaining that certain statements made by the Professor did not go well by majority of the party members.
