The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has barred two Port Health officers from operating at Accra International Airport after they were found to have extorted money from a Foreign passport holder for the issuance of a Yellow Fever Card.
According to GACL, the incident occurred on August 5, 2026, when the officers allegedly charged a foreign passport holder US$40 instead of the approved US$20 fee for the document.
The official fee for Ghanaian passport holders remains GHS100.
In a statement issued on August 6, 2026, Management said the officers’ identification cards have been withdrawn and deactivated with immediate effect.
As of August 6, 2026, the two officers are no longer permitted to work at Accra International Airport or any other airport operated by GACL.
The company also addressed a separate incident captured in a viral video, which showed a Ghana Immigration Service officer allegedly demanding money for “breakfast” from a passenger.
GACL said the Ghana Immigration Service has confirmed that the officer has since been transferred from the airport.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on corruption, GACL warned that all airport personnel are under constant monitoring and urged travellers to report any acts of extortion.
