The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has advised the general public, particularly bloggers and journalists, to refrain from actions that undermine its peacekeeping efforts in Bawku and surrounding areas.

The GAF has cautioned that publishing details of past operations in the area and presenting them as current hinders its efforts to restore peace to the conflict-ridden communities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 31, 2025, the GAF emphasised that spreading misinformation does not support peace restoration operations but rather exacerbates tensions in the area.

“The Armed Forces wishes to appeal to all individuals, including bloggers, content creators and media personnel, to refrain from posting previous military footage and linking them to the current operations — an act that constitutes disinformation and mal-information. Such behaviour undermines the peace efforts and fuels unnecessary tension,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reemphasised its commitment to restoring peace in the area, calling on all stakeholders to support this endeavour.

The GAF has expressed that peace in Bawku and its surrounding communities is vital to the entire nation, and it remains committed to working tirelessly to ensure that the vision of attaining peace becomes a reality.

The reassurance follows recent attacks in the area, which have resurfaced due to the resurgence of the longstanding conflict that has disrupted peace in the enclave for decades.

The statement also urged residents to cooperate with the security forces in their intensified operations, particularly by adhering to the revised curfew hours from 6:00pm to 6:00am, updated from the previous schedule of 2:00 pm to 6:00 am.

According to the release, the heightened operations commenced on Tuesday, July 29, and involve both ground and aerial maneuvers.

“The Ghana Armed Forces remains fully committed to its mission to restore peace and stability in Bawku, Nalerigu and surrounding towns and calls on all stakeholders to support and collaborate towards its successful accomplishment,” the statement said in some parts.
