The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reemphasised its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Bawku, Nalerigu, and surrounding areas, calling on all stakeholders to support this endeavour.

According to the GAF, peace in Bawku and its environs is crucial to the nation’s well-being, and it will continue to work tirelessly to make this a reality.

The reassurance follows recent attacks in the area, which have resurfaced due to the longstanding conflict that has disrupted peace in the enclave for decades.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 31, 2025, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) urged residents to cooperate with them in their intensified operations, particularly by adhering to the revised curfew hours from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, updated from the previous schedule of 2:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The GAF also stated that the heightened operations, involving both ground and aerial maneuvers, began on Tuesday, July 29.

“The Ghana Armed Forces remains fully committed to its mission to restore peace and stability in Bawku, Nalerigu and surrounding towns and calls on all stakeholders to support and collaborate towards its successful accomplishment,” the statement said in some parts.

The statement further urged urged the public and media practitioners to desist from misinforming the public to undermine their operations.

“The Armed Forces wishes to appeal to all individuals, including bloggers, content creators and media personnel, to refrain from posting previous military footage and linking them to the current operations — an act that constitutes disinformation and mal-information. Such behaviour undermines the peace efforts and fuels unnecessary tension,” the statement warned.
