The alleged assault of a student by an Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics at the Nkwatia Presby SHS has been condemned by the Ghana Education Service after the incident was captured on video and gone viral on social media.
The GES has said in a statement that it was “disturbed” by the video which shows the Assistant Headmaster slapping and beating female student believed to be in SHS 2, adding that it “unequivocally condemns the actions of the Assistant Headmaster.”
The Monday, August 28, 2023 statement signed by the head of Public Relations Unit of the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said the headmaster has been relieved of his duties and that the student was receiving medical care and counselling.

Meanwhile, investigations are currently underway according to the GES, stating that the Eastern Regional Director of Education was liaising with the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency for that.
