Kofi Koranteng has likened the state of affairs in the country as one that is beyond a banana republic.

He was reacting.to the military brutalities on Krobo residents Monday, August 22, 2022.

Residents of Nuaso Old Town, a community in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality of the Eastern Region clashed the military escorts who were assisting staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to install prepaid metres in the community.

According to the residents, the military started attacking them on sight, with some sustaining wire and gunshot injuries.

Eight persons were sent to the St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital at Agormanya for treatment.

The persons who were brutalised included women, a cripple and a pregnant woman.

Meanwhile, whilst the military say they were attacked by the residents with the ECG staff first, the Administrator of the St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital says they cannot confirm gunshot wounds because they couldn’t retrieve any bullet from the victims’ wounds.

These developments is what the 2024 Independent Presidential Hopeful says takes Ghana beyond a banana Republic.

He was speaking with Captain Smart on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

“We’ve passed a banana republic. We are in a Kokonte, Koobi republic,” he said.
