Many voted for Akufo-Addo as a corruption crusader with the expectation of seriously fighting the menace but has turned out to be a huge disappointment, Captain Smart has maintained.

He says the vast difference between his votes and that of John Mahama indicated many “Ghanaians needed you [Akufo-Addo] but now we don’t even want you.”

According to Captain Smart, contrary to the assertion that some people hate the President, “the ordinary Ghanaian doesn’t hate you” but rather, “we wanted you to come fight corruption. But now you’re the chief corruption officer.”

Captain Smart alleged the President cannot win the galamsey fight because of persons involved who are close to him, such Wontumi.

He alleged the President is himself encouraging galamsey at his backyard since he is a royal of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Authority whose backyard galamsey is ongoing.

“Now you can’t fight galamsey because you can’t arrest Wontumi. “You can’t fight galamsey because it is being done right behind your palace at Kyebi. It’s your palace because you are a royal,” he said.

Meanwhile, he has asked the Okyenhene to stop the galamsey which is some few distance behind his palace.

Captain Smart says in order to realise Ghana’s dreams of increasing her tonnes of cocoa production, the Okyenhene has to stop the felling of cocoa trees few kilometres behind his palace.

His comments stem from a statement from the Okyenhene describing critics of the Akufo-Addo government as witches and wizards, uncivilised and ill-nurtured whilst galamsey is ongoing at his backyard.

In a video taken by Onua TV/FM’s Maakye team at Kyebi, headquarters of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council where the Ofori Panin stool is, illegal mining activities known as galamsey was seriously ongoing.

On the morning show Friday, October 27, 2022, Captain Smart said the only thing he wants the Okyenhene to do is to stop the galamsey behind his palace.

“Okyenhene, we were at Kyebi and just few metres away from the palace, there was galamsey ongoing. Nana, please stop the galamsey at your backyard,” he charged.
