A second-half strike by Mawuli Wayo gave Accra Hearts of Oak a 1-0 win over debutants Vision FC in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
Friday’s clash at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium was the first game in Week 10 of this season’s league.
The Phobians were hosting the debutants from the back of a shocking Matchday 1 defeat at home to Basake Holy Stars, also making their debut in the top-flight domestic league.
Hearts were in high spirits, however, as they were coming from a vital 2-0 away win over Medeama SC in their last outing.
However, their last game at the venue saw them lose painfully to league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars SC.
Therefore, the win came as a savoury for the former champions.
It lifts them from the eighth position to the fourth position.
The results, for Vision FC, compounds their woes as they have now gone five games without a win, their last coming on Saturday, October 12 against Holy Stars.
They will next host Dreams FC while Hearts will travel to Tamale to play Karela United FC.
