Accra Hearts of Oak have lost their Ghana Premier League Week 8 clash to Bibiani Gold Stars SC.
A second-half strike by Atta Kumi at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium secured all three points for the leaders.
A penalty awarded Hearts of Oak a few minutes later was saved by goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi.
The Phobians have picked only two wins so far in the League and went into Sunday’s match after three goalless draws in between the wins.
But a match-up against the league leaders was a big ask as the Miners are one of two unbeaten sides in the League.
After a goalless first half, Hearts fans were faced with another scoreless draw only for the situation to be made worse.
A defensive blunder in the 69th minute was capitalized on by Kumi, who slotted home what became the match winner.
The win sees the Miners maintain their three-point lead while Hearts drop to 12th on nine points.
The former Champions’ next encounter will be against fellow former champions Medeama SC while the league leaders return home to welcome strugglers Dreams FC, who have been nominated by CAF as the Club of the Year.
