Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana, has confirmed that the Authority has reported Royal Dede Beach Resort, a hotel in Accra New Town to the police for investigation.
This comes after a viral video circulated on social media with allegations against the hotel’s management.
In the video, a woman is heard accusing Royal Dede Beach Resort, of allegedly allowing minors to engage in intimate activities on the premises.
In a post on X, April 23, 2025, Abeiku Santana assured Ghanaians that the GTA has reported the matter to the police for investigations to be conducted.
“The Ghana Tourism Authority has taken swift action following reports circulating on social media regarding concerns of minors allegedly taken to a hotel in Accra New Town. The case has been reported to the Nima Police Division for investigation,” he said.
He further revealed that upon inspection of the facility, the GTA discovered that Royal Dede Beach Resort had been converted into a hostel with appropriate regulation.
“Additionally, our team inspected Royal Dede Beach Resort, which has been converted into a hostel under new management without official notification to the Ghana Tourism Authority. We discovered that the hostel’s operations were not in compliance with Regulations 2016, L. I 2239,”
He added that the operator has been directed to the Standards and Quality Assurance Department of the Authority for the necessary regulation.
