Prophet Nigel Gaisie, leader of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, has denied foreknowledge on the health status of late Deputy Finance Minister, John Ampontuah Kumah, before his December 31, 2023, prophecy over the man’s death.

Nigel Gaisie admits knowing the family after giving out a prophecy about the prospects of John Kumah in a potential Akufo-Addo administration in 2015, but has since not been able to reach out to them because they shunned him afterwards.

According to him, the prophecy he gave about a deputy minister who was going to die is an unadulterated message from God which he partially concealed as a result of the orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, about prophecies in the country.

Speaking on Onua TV’s morning show with Captain Smart Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the prophet noted that the Kumah family cut ties with him after he prophesied that John Mahama was going to win the 2016 elections, contrary to an earlier revelation he had about Akufo-Addo winning the polls.

He disclosed that his attempts to meet John Kumah were all impeded by the wife causing the man’s demise barely three months after the revelation.

“…So the Lord revealed to me to tell them that the NDC will lose the election and John Kumah will become a deputy minister when Nana Addo comes to power. He asked me to pray for Nana Addo to win power so that he will help me when they win power. So I dedicated my son, Godsway Senaku to be praying with them,” he disclosed.

Nigel Gaisie continued that, when he, however, later “prophesied that Mahama was going to win, they disconnected from me.”

“John [Kumah] told me along the way that he wants me to come home and speak to the electorates about what I have seen about him and the NPP so we prayed and I left within 5 minutes. 2015 till now I have never spoken to him before. It was last year that I saw the prophecy and due to Dampare’s orders, I couldn’t give out the direct details,” he added.

The IGP in 2022 reinforced a statement he issued to religious leaders in 2021, making him set December 27 of every year as Prophecy Communication Compliance Day which has since been observed each year.

The day, according to the police, is to create awareness of the Constitution’s stance on the communication of public prophecies to avoid messages that spell doom and create fear and panic.

According to Nigel Gaisie, it was for such reason that he couldn’t say more about the deputy minister he prophesied about last year.

Background

The prophet had prophesied over Mr. Kumah’s demise during his 31st December watch night service in the year 2023, before the man’s death barely three months into the prophecy.

But John Kumah’s wife told Accra-based Asaase Radio that the family was close with the prophet, knew about the husband’s predicament and used it as a prophecy.

“Nigel Gaisie was like a brother. He knows my late husband, lawyer John Kumah personally, one-on-one. We have sat in this house and eaten together several times. That is how far we go. When he came from abroad to start a church in Ghana, he came to my church, Disciples of Christ Ministries and I did a programme with him dubbed “Let the Prophet Speak”.

“We know him very well and have been aware since November 2023 that the late John Kumah was seriously sick. My husband had a lot of respect for men of Ghana in this country and that included Nigel Gaisie when my husband and I thought he was a genuine man of God,” Apostle Lilian Kumah stated.

“Nigel Gaisie knew very well that my husband was terminally ill as far back as August 2023 but regardless of that, he stood on his altar on 31st December 2023 to lie through his supposed prophesy that a Ghanaian deputy minister will die in the year 2024. What does he want to achieve through these fake prophesies?” John Kumah’s widow further stated.
