Renowned Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang has bemoaned the current state of water bodies in the country which have been negatively affected due to galamsey activities.

In an interview on 3Lounge, Adjetey Anang stated that its time for drastic measures to be taken to stop galamsey activities as more lives are at risk.

The actor said he became “heartbroken” when he was exposed to the current state of water bodies in the country, mainly in areas where galamsey activities are heavily being carried out.

To this end, Adjetey Anang noted he supports any course of action geared towards putting an end to galamsey menace.

“I support the calls in making sure that we arrest this case so that lives are saved…I support all these calls in drawing attention to the ills of society and governance for us to sit up.

“It is time for us to make noise and keep making noise about this because our lives are at stake at this moment and what we are prioritising over our health and future is neither he nor there,” he said on 3FM, Friday September 27.

However, touching on the use of demonstrations to register displeasure with galamsey activities, Adjetey said “I am a man of the law and so as long as we are doing these things within the confines of the law, we are good and we are safe but if we cross the line then we have this tug of war going on.”
