President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said he takes full responsibility of the current economic difficulty, but stated one cannot gloss over the external factors.

This is the first time the president has publicly owned up, as the country’s micro economy continues to be challenged.

“I am the leader and I take responsibility” he told host of Otec FM morning show during an interview Monday, October 17, 2022.

The President was however, optimistic, the economy will recover before he finishes his term.

“I hope the IMF support is concluded in middle of November so we can feed it into our budget,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo also stressed “my hope is to take Ghana out of IMF before I finish my term.”

The president is on a four-day tourbof the Ashanti Region which he would end on Wednesday.

He has already met the Asantehene and discussed issues concerning illegal mining with him and is expected to visit other projects the government is undertaking in the region before concluding his tour.
