Ghanaian youth have been admonished to eschew political indifference especially when political decisions affect their daily lives directly and indirectly.

The assertion that “whoever gets power will do the same old things” according Samuel Adongo, a political enthusiast seeking to join Ghana’s legislature in 2024, should be discarded.

Speaking with the media following his return from abroad to represent his constituents, the young man said it was time the Ghanaian youth, both home and abroad, come along to help save the country from the current mess it is in.

According to him, “the wrong things are going on and we cannot talk about it. We can’t say anything about it and we are just watching. Any youth in this country, whether you are even abroad and you know that you have something to offer this country, this is the time, we must all come back to Ghana wherever that we are and save this nation, things are going just too bad.”

Samuel Adongo, an NDC Parliamentary Candidate hopeful for the New Juaben North constituency noted shrouding one’s mind with the assertion that the political sphere is forever doomed irrespective of who is in power is a disincentive for those with something positive to offer.

“The need has come for the youth of this country to be up in whatever capacity they are. We don’t always have to sit back and always say as we say in our local dialect “saa na ɔman no ayɛ, na obiara a ɔbɛba no saa ara na ɔbɛyɛ.” [Our country has been like that and whoever comes will do the same thing]. It’s time we took the nation at heart and work towards changing the destiny of this country,” he advised.

Advancing his conviction beyond politics, Mr. Adongo was bewildered by the deliberate adoption of the wrong choices whilst the right things needed for the comfort of all are obvious.

“Aside all politics, why can’t we just do things right when we know there is a right way of doing it but we rather choose to do the wrong things just for our personal benefit, just for our selfish gains at the expense of the majority of the people? And the majority is suffering.

“If you go to some of our villages, you will cry my brother, seriously we will not wait any longer. It is time for whatever that we have to sacrifice to save the future of this country. We have to do it, and for that reason I am back and I am coming to represent my people and I’m ready to serve my people. If you want to be a leader, don’t think of your people bowing down before or even to serve you, think of you serving your people first and that is the main thing,” he stated.

Mr. Adongo was welcomed by some NDC faithful from his constituency who are rooting for him to occupy the seat considering the good works he has began even before harnessing his political ambition.
