Some Dagomba youth and the Council of Elders of Dagombas in the Ashanti region have expressed their dissatisfaction on the reshuffle of leadership in the Minority caucus of Parliament.

Addressing the media, the group said the removal of Haruna Iddrisu and Mohammed Muntaka has left the four northern regions with no representation in Parliament.

Secretary of the group, Mohammed Baba said reasons by the NDC to justify its decision are not convincing and has ask if the party is planning to elect a candidate with economics background as its flagbearer when it goes to the polls to elect its 2024 presidential candidate.

The group has therefore called on the party leadership to rescind its decision and engage in a broader consultation with the caucus in Parliament.

“Asiedu Nketia said he made the changes to get regional balance in the Minority leadership. But after making the changes, we don’t see any regional balance there. Currently none of the four Northern regions has a representative in parliamentary leadership.

“Aside from that there is none from Ashanti in the Minority leadership. And talking about regional balance, he ousted someone from a particular region and replaced him with another from same region. Why is it different with us?

“Then again, he has been saying per one of the interviews he granted that, the 2024 elections is going to based on economic issues as the fulcrum of discussion, so they needed someone with an economic background. I want to ask of they are going to choose a flagbearer with an economic background to lead the party,” he quizzed.
