The Defence Minister-designate, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has committed to ensuring regional balance in recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces.

Answering questions before the Appointment Committee on Tuesday, January 28, Dr Omane Boamah emphasised that as a someone who believes in equity, he would to ensure that all regions of Ghana are adequately represented in the Ghana Armed Forces.

“I am a student of equity, and I believe that it is crucial for the military to reflect the diversity of our nation. I will do everything in my power to ensure that no region is left behind in the recruitment process. The military should be a true reflection of Ghana’s rich diversity,” Dr Omane Boamah stated during his vetting.

He added that, “We must ensure that every region is given equal opportunity to serve in the military, thus fostering unity and cohesion across the country.”

The Defence Minister-designate highlighted the importance of creating an army that is not only skilled but also representative of the diverse communities it serves.

“When we ensure that recruitment is balanced across the regions, we are not just creating an army; we are reinforcing national integration and ensuring that every part of the country feels part of the larger goal of national security,” he added.
