A young man in his early 20s has been found hanging on a tree around the premises of the Lands Commission Office in Sekondi.
The body of the neatly dressed young man was seen hanging on a mango tree in the early hours of Tuesday, January 28, 2024.
The deceased used a sponge tied to a branch of the mango tree with his handbag beside him.
Some residents in the area indicated that the deceased was spotted earlier within the vicinity.
“When we came to the office in the morning, we saw him passing with his side bag. We thought he was one of the many people who use the road here to the community down there. We just had information that he is dead, his situation is very unfortunate”, Kwame Sam, a resident in the area indicated.
Jerry Koomson, who also reside in the area tells Connect FM that he had met him in the morning, and both exchanged pleasantries but did not know he had suicidal intentions.
“I normally see him around. There was a time I met him, and he complained of being hungry and asked for financial support. I could not help him because I had nothing on me that day. I have since then been seeing him in the area. It’s sad that he decided to take his life”, he added.
Officers from the Sekondi District Police Command later arrived to convey the lifeless body of the deceased to the mortuary.
Investigations to unravel the actual cause of his death has since commenced.
