Broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart believes Communication and Digitalisation Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, should be exculpated from the brouhaha surrounding the Ghana card registration.
He argues the National Identification Authority (NIA) responsible for the exercise is under the Ministry of the Interior where Ambrose Dery is in charge.
Grievances of Ghanaians being channelled to Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful according Mr. Smart is a right call being directed to the wrong quarters.
The Minister, during her press briefing with the media Sunday, July 31, 2022 indicated she has been vilified for the past week due to the issues people have had with the Ghana card registration.
She made the statement at her concluding remarks with the media during her announcement of the extension of the SIM card re-registration.
She said she is concentrating on her ministry without trespassing areas beyond her designation.
“I must end by reminding us all that the MoCD is not the supervisory ministry for the National Identification Authority, even though we collaborate with them. My hapless self has been roundly vilified in certain quarters particularly this past week for Ghana card challenges which I am not responsible for.
“Prof. Ken Attafuah and his sector Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery, Minister for the Interior, are available to answer any Ghana card related issue please. I am staying firmly in my lane,” she said.
Meanwhile, Captain Smart has sided with her, saying all blames should be directed to the appropriate quarters.
