Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said he is able to play his dual role as the Finance Minister and Acting Minister of Defence because he has a strong team at the Finance Ministry that assists him.
So far, so good, it has been going well, he said.
Asked how he is able to manage these roles while speaking on the Key Points, Saturday, November 15, he said, “It’s a matter of how you position yourself and how you manage your time. I have a strong deputy who assists me at the Ministry of Finance. It is really going well.”
Asked whether he gets enough time to sleep, he said “I get a lot of time to sleep, and I am able to sleep up to 6 hours.”
President John Dramani Mahama directed the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, to assume additional responsibilities as acting Minister for Defence following the tragic death of the Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in the helicopter crash.
In a statement released by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President extended his condolences and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring continuity in governance amid this period of mourning.
“These temporary appointments are to ensure there is no vacuum in critical areas of national security and environmental policy,” the statement read.
“The President has full confidence in the capacity and experience of both ministers to steer their respective additional portfolios during this difficult time.”
