Renowned actress, role model and TV personality, Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about the challenges she faced during her recovery after undergoing her fifth and final surgery to correct complications from a long-standing injury on her right arm.
The actress, who has battled pain for over a decade following a car accident in January 2013, revealed that the recovery process tested her physically, emotionally and financially.
Speaking on TV3 Newday with Cookie T on December 17, 2025 monitored by 3Entertainment’s Owusu Worae, the actress disclosed that the financial burden of her treatment was substantial.
“If I should tell you the money I’ve spent on this hand, it’s almost GH₵500, 000 since May till now,” McBrown shared. “And remember, it’s not just the money, the pain, the stress, the emotional trauma, you need to go through it yourself because you can’t rely on people.”
She pointed out that while support from family and friends can help, ultimately, healing is a personal journey.
McBrown explained that the recovery involved intensive physiotherapy, including early morning sessions at the 37 Military Hospital from 5:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., followed by therapy at home.
“I had to work on my arm every morning and evening, using the stimulation machine they taught me to operate,” she said.
Despite the physical and emotional challenges, McBrown expressed gratitude for reaching this stage in her recovery. “This was my fifth and final surgery. I’m thankful to God that as I speak, I don’t feel the pain again “ she noted.
