Apatano Nsona Ebusua and family members at Komenda in Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality of the Central Region have given the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, a one-week ultimatum to produce a certificate of his marriage allegation against Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and John Mahama or face their wrath.

Alternatively, Chairman Wontumi must apologise to their daughter for the allegations, the family further demanded.

According to Apatano Nsona Ebusua, the NPP regional chairman’s allegation that their daughter, Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is secretly married to Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, and also she not hailing from the Central Region but  the Northern Region, as Chairman Wontumi alleges, is shocking to the family.

This was made known at a press conference held on Thursday, March 28 at the Apatano Nsona Ebusua premises in Komenda.

Spokesperson for the family, Uncle Kwofie Batch issued the one-week ultimatum to Chairman Wontumi to retract and apologise to the family and the entire inhabitants of Komenda or face their wrath.

Addressing the media, Madam Grace Atta French, who inherited the late Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s father, deeply cried over the allegations, saying they indict the family.

“We knew our daughter Jane has divorced her husband some years ago, so if Chairman Wontumi in public alleged that Mr. John Dramani Mahama is secretly married to our daughter, the family welcomes the news,” the family stressed.

“Provide the family with the marriage certificate that certifies Jane and John are a couple immediately,” Madam Grace Atta French demanded.

The Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Charles Entsuah, speaking on behalf of the party, said the derogatory statements made by Chairman Wontumi are unwarranted and it is essential for the leadership of the NPP to address this issue and apologize to the people of Komenda.

“Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s impact on the community is undeniable, and she deserves recognition and support for her continued efforts in uplifting the lives of the people of Komenda.”
