Traders at Kantamanto within the Central Business District of Accra have welcomed calls by a section of the Majority caucus in Parliament to relieve Ken Ofori-Atta of his duty.

They have described the move as lucid and a step in the right direction to help fix the prevailing economy.

80 Majority Members of Parliament have issued a notice to the President to sack the Finance Minister, Kenneth Ofori-Atta.

The MPs want President Akufo-Addo to sack Ken Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen, his deputy, because they have failed.

Addressing the media Tuesday, October 25, 2022, MP for Asante Akyem North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, said they have been compelled to come public on their demands because several appeals to the Presidency through the leadership failed.

He insisted vehemently that should the president fail to heed their call, they will not participate in any business of government by or for the President.

Chairman of the used clothes dealers association, Michael Oppong reacting to this in an interview with Onua FM indicated the call by the Majority caucus is welcoming yet long overdue.

He opines the Finance Minister should have been fired a long time due to his abysmal performance.

“I strongly support the call by the Majority to sack Ken Ofori-Atta because he has collapsed the economy rendering the business community to suffering.

“A bale of used clothes sold at 1,000 Cedis is now selling at 4,000 which is making it difficult for our members to sustain their capital; so I think Ken should go and allow a better person to take over,” he reiterated.

He further appealed to President Akufo-Addo to heed to the call of the MPs and sack the Finance Minister to help restore hope in the government.

Members of the used clothes association who spoke with the News team equally expressed joy over the call and prayed the demands of the legislators are met.

They are positive of equally better people in the NPP to replace Ken Ofori-Atta.
