Some residents of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East district of the Central region have lashed out on President Akufo-Addo for saying he has solved the ongoing load-shedding known locally as ‘dumsor‘.

The residents, who spoke with Onua News’s Nana Yaw Asare indicated that the challenges they encountered still persist after the President’s comments, indicating that he shouldn’t have lied to Ghanaians about it.

Whilst most complained about the worsening situation of the problem, a few noted the situation has improved after the President’s comments.

“There is no stable power. Tell him I said he is a liar. He has deceived us. During the covid time he told us to use water and electricity for free but now we are paying for everything. If he has served his term of office, he should leave,” one resident said.

Another indicated that “it has improved after the announcement. It went off this morning but it came back after some moment. Initially it was worse.”

“It is not true if someone tells me the power is stable. Sometimes we will have outage for two to three days. It can go off and return in about an hour time but when it goes off, it doesn’t come again until dawn,” one added.

According to this man, “they offed it and for about three days, it wasn’t back. So it is not true that it is stable. If some places have stable power and he is talking about it, that’s fine but not here.”

President Akufo-Addo, during his May Day address Wednesday, May 1, 2024, indicated that the erratic power supply bedeviling Ghanaian businesses has abated and will not reoccur.

He said the transformers that encountered challenges to necessitate the intermittent outages otherwise known as ‘dumsor‘ have all been fixed.

“Issues surrounding the maintenance of the transformers have been resolved, Indeed we have witnessed stable power supply across the country with no load shedding reported anywhere yesterday…I am confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return,” he stated.
