Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to the Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua and Barbuda without obtaining entry visas, following the ratification and entry into force of visa waiver agreements between Ghana and the three countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the development in a statement dated September 8, 2026.
The visa waiver agreement apply to holders of Ordinary, Service and Diplomatic Passports.
Under the agreements, Ghanaians travelling to the Maldives and Zambia can stay for a maximum of 30 days, while those travelling to Antigua and Barbuda can stay for up to 90 days without a visa.
The visa waiver arrangements apply to holders of Ordinary, Service and Diplomatic Passports as follows:

The Ministry, however, cautioned travellers that visa-free access does not exempt them from complying with the immigration and entry requirements of the destination countries.
Ghanaian travellers are required to carry a valid passport and any other documents that may be requested by the relevant authorities.
They must also ensure they do not exceed the stipulated period of stay under the respective visa waiver arrangements.
The Ministry further clarified that Ghanaians intending to work, study, reside or undertake any other activity requiring a permit or specific authorisation must obtain the necessary approval from the relevant authorities.
Travellers have also been encouraged to confirm, prior to travel, the current entry, health and other applicable requirements with the relevant authorities or the nearest Embassy or High Commission of the destination country, as such requirements may be subject to change.
The Ministry said the visa waiver arrangements form part of Ghana’s efforts to facilitate the movement of its citizens while strengthening bilateral relations with partner countries.
